Short introduction:

On August 4th after, almost 11 hours on a plane - 7 000 km I was on the Bermuda land to spend 10 months there as a scholar at NF-POGO Training Programme at Observational Oceanography at BIOS. The main goal of this programme is to develope scientific skills of 10 lucky young scientists from developing countries from all over the world. Moreover to create a world-wide cooperative network for global ocean observations.

Not very nice weather-welcome, wright? The air was very humid and dense. But It seemed like it was a 100 degrees!! I took a cab to the BIOS (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences) and of course the driver, who in fact was very very nice, used my naivety and charged twice the price. Yeah! But I came up with that much later...that's just me ^^'. I took a key to my room and... I was there, in my temporary home :). Few minutes later I was welcomed by staff members, interns and other POGOnians (thats how they called us) in the "Passin' Wind". The bar with a view on an inter-island ocean bay - magical, but they do not have Polish beer, unfortunately....

During this months all our 10 will participate in lectures - weakly modules focusing on different subjects from the oceanogrphic sciences like general oceanography, chemical oceanography, physical oceanography and others like core skills, scientific writing or ocean data management (from August to January). After that time each one of us will be involved in one choosen research project conducted by staff members of the Institute (from January to May).
